Detailed Description

DENAMARIN® TABLETS

Denamarin®, a patented liver health supplement for veterinary use only, combines a pure and stabilized S-Adenosylmethionine with silybin-phosphatidylcholine complex.

Denamarin is available in three convenient sizes:

  • Denamarin for Cats and Small Dogs, which contains 90 mg of S-Adenosylmethionine and 31 mg of silybin-phosphatidylcholine complex (SPC), providing 9 mg of Silybin A+B;
  • Denamarin for Medium Dogs, which contains 225 mg of S-Adenosylmethionine and 82 mg of SPC, providing 24 mg of Silybin A+B;
  • Denamarin for Large Dogs, which contains 425 mg of S-Adenosylmethionine and 120 mg of SPC, providing 35 mg of Silybin A+B.

As S-Adenosylmethionine is sensitive to moisture, the enteric-coated tablets are individually sealed in specialized moisture-resistant blister packs.

In addition to supporting liver health, Denamarin may also support brain health as S-Adenosylmethionine has been shown to function as a neuroprotective agent.

Is Denamarin right for your pet?

When liver function is compromised, the exact cause can often be difficult to determine. Supporting the liver, regardless of the cause, is essential to keep it working properly.

Liver support

Administering SAMe (S-Adenosylmethionine), which is found in Denamarin, has been shown to markedly increase liver levels of glutathione,  an important compound for liver health formed when SAMe is metabolized. The SAMe in Denamarin has also been shown to help protect liver cells from cell death and may help cell repair and regeneration.

Denamarin also helps support your pet's liver through the administration of SILYBINSILYBIN is an active part of an extract from milk thistle, known as silymarin, and has been shown to support liver function by helping maintain a healthy oxidative balance.

While best known for supporting the liver in dogs and cats, research has shown that the S-Adenosylmethionine (SAMe) in Denamarin may help support cognitive function in dogs. Denamarin provides SAMe in a stabilized form to help with brain health and act as a neuroprotector. Denamarin also provides a bioavailable form of silybin which supports oxidative balance.

How to use Denamarin?

For optimal absorption, tablets should be given on an empty stomach, at least one hour before feeding, as the presence of food decreases the absorption of S-Adenosylmethionine.

For those owners who have difficulty administering tablets to their pets, Denamarin tablet(s) may be disguised in a small bite of food.

Studies have shown that, in many cases, tablets or capsules given as a “dry swallow” do not pass into the stomach in cats but may become lodged in the esophagus.

It is recommended for pet owners to administer 3-6 cc of water immediately following any tablet administration to speed passage of the tablet into the stomach. Denamarin for Cats and Small Dogs tablets are ideal for cats because of their small size.

If the pet is to receive more than one tablet daily, the total number of tablets may be divided between morning and evening for ease of administration.
